The Expired License of a Law Abiding Citizen

This blog is about my hubby and the good, law abiding citizen that he is *like for real*. When people follow us in a car they often complain about how slow this husband of mine drives. He's not always under the speed limit, but unlike most people when they are excited about the conversation and typically speed up, he is way more prone to sloooooow down (just one example). Anyway, I am always teasing him about the rule follower that he is. I once convinced him to speed to church because we had spent the afternoon at an amusement park and we were definitely going to be late. He listened aaaaand he got pulled over, lolololol!
We are youth leaders and he is not afraid to be a stickler for the rules, which is good, but I like to tease him, all in good humor of course (because I'm not a wife who cuts down her man). :) Anyway, one day we went on a youth outing and I had literally teased him about his "rule following" that day, with the youth kids listening in. We all had the giggles while my hubby rolled his eyes at me (he's a good sport). Off we went; my car full of girls, and my hubby's with all the guys. The girls were excited about doing a Chinese Fire Drill, I thought, why not? We parked at a stop light in a nice little town, all of us got out running and screaming as we lapped the car and hopped back in. Note: My husband and the guys are all watching us do this, and before we could even drive off, a cop turned on his lights RIGHT behind us! Can we say bad luck? Who has an undercover cop car behind them when they do a Chinese Fire Drill??? I pulled over, all of us were laughing our heads off, and the cop came to my window and asked, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" He totally had a smirk on his face, he thought it was funny too, but I answered him, and it was actually for illegally parking or something like that. Thankfully the guy was nice and just gave us a warning, but while we drove off my hubby who parked to watch the whole thing called and said, "And THAT is why I follow the rules!" It was incredibly funny!
So today I got my new license in the mail and showed it to my husband. He inspected it while we talked about how cheap of a plastic it was. He pulled out his old license to compare with my new license; and while he gave his inspection he says in a completely unimpressed voice, "What? I guess my license already expired with my last birthday." FOLKS my law abiding husband has been driving around illegally for the past EIGHT months! I got the giggles of course, I just have to chuckle that this happened to HIM! Oh how I love him and his rule stickler ways, he makes me laugh all the time! Now to take a trip to the DMV and renew that license!
